To force your system to use only digitally signed system files and drivers, see our seperate tutorial in the Windows XP menu. Using only digitally signed and approved files can help to reduce system instability problems.

Check for un-signed System files.

Un-Signed system files can cause system instability if they're not correctly written, and may even be a sign of Virus infection. To check for and display any un-signed drives use the following procedure.

  • Click the Start button and select the Run option, type in 'sigverif' and hit Enter.
  • Click Start in the wizard dialog and your system will be scanned for un-signed files.
  • Google any files displayed and take the appropriate action.
